WHY PEOPLE SAVE BOOKS

My topic is related to why people save books after they read them. I chose this topic because i save books too.In this text i will compare and contrast my reasons and other people’s reasons for this issue. Many people who like to read also save the books they have read.Almost everonehasa single Bookshelf in their homes.they read and hhen collect books. There may be several reasons, but i am going to mention three of them.

One reason is that people save books as a reference material. For example, a doctor may keep his anatomy and pharmacology books, an English teacher ,like I am going to be,may hold on to anthologies and novels which belong to English Literature as a reference. However ,it is not only the professionals who save their books. Those interested in electronic equipment hold on to their books about computers, stereos and machines. Many families keep encyclopedias for the children to use for school.

Another reason is that some people save books is to make a good impression.I have never had a thought like this.I think this thought is nonsense.Books have never been saved for this reason, but some people think that a library full of the classics, dictionaries and books about art ,science and history make them look well read and therefore, sophisticated. Also , some people like to reveal to visitors their interests and tastes by this way. There is a deeper reason .This reason is my main reason too.People who enjoy reading have discovered the magic of books. Each book has transported the reader to another place. Therefore, each book really represents an experience from which the reader may have learned something. For example, when I read the book of Reşat Nuri Güntekin,Çalıkuşu,I wanted to save it ,because I found something from me in that book.It affected me a lot. While reading I felt as if I was another World.

To sum up, the reasons why many people save books center on the need to use them as a reference material,to make a good impression and to cherish the emotional bond like me.

EXERCİSE 1
Our beagle loves hunting rabbits. As soon
as someone opens the back door for her ,she barrels down porch and steps into
the yard. She runs back and forth accross the lawn in ecstasy. Her nose cruises
the wet grass for smells which are belong to cats, rabbits and other precences
to subtle for human detection. She sniffs and spins her tail that spins
clockwise first and then spins counterclockwise in quick circles. These two
activities always ocur together. They are sniffing and spining. They seem to
propel her along.I love seing her in a cheerful mood.We have lucky to have her.

EXERCİSE 2
The
Government Printing Office in Washington D.C,few people know about it ,is a
source of useful information. It is the official publishing house fort he
federal government. The GPO publishes pamphlets and boks on a vast number
subjects ranging from he dangers of X- rays ,from home TVsets to the
identification of mushrooms.About 27.000 publications are offered through The
Superintended of Documents. Many of them are inexpensive and for some of them
there is no charge at all which makes reading and searching easier for people. It
is supposed to increase the reading rate in Washington.

EXERCİSE 3
A man
reaping America’s first fortune was John Jacob Astor. He was lowborn and
uneducated German immigrant. He made his initial Money trading Indian furs and
made a fortune from this trade.Astor never learned to speak English properly
which wasn’t an obstacle for him.He carried on his business to the end in an Accent
which was redolent of the Hamburg gutters.

Video Reflection

In this video students think they are lucky for
being a student in US.Because in USthey have many opportunities . they think in US , education system is more
creative and more flexible when compared
to their own’s.Except for the student from
Japan,students decided to study
in US for these reasons
Japanese student said that he was accustomed to study in foreıgn country
because he studied high scholl in Canada
According to the students ,their educatıon system is
too strıct.In Netherland students don’t practıce properly.there is a monotonous
life in Netherland and educatııon system mostly base on books and fix plans.ın
Japan students can’t chance their department if they want in Chına students
must take hıgher grades to study at a unıversty.they think ın US.educatıon
system is flexible when compared to their own counrty’s educatıon system.
They thınk the cost of beıng a student ın US ısn’t
expensive .the costs which contaın housıng meals fees are approximately 30
thousand dollars.accordıng to them it is moderate.
Like many ınternatıonal students they have
experienced culture schock too.for example, the Chınese student saıd that ın
Chına they hanged their clothes outside
to dry up but ın US people used dryıng machınes.she thinks people’s wearıng
shorts in winter in weird.ın Japan directly communıcatıon is thought to be
rude, but ın US people frienly and can outgoıng and they can communıcatıon easly
the Japanese student said.
I want to study ın a foreıgn counrty, but ıt might not
be the US. I will have similar experıences as every ınternatıonal student
have.ı want to study abroad via student exchange programs like Erasmus. I know
there will be many obstacles but ı
belıeve ı can deal with them and it ıs worth
